Avast me mates!

Hoi,

And just when you think my birthday is well and truly over, it isn't! I'm a bit late with this post but it has been mighty busy here, but last weekend I received a large package from my good ole mate AM. What did the box contain? I here you cry! Well just about everything you need to play Freebooters Fate. Yeah you heard that right everything! Let's make a list:
- the rulebook of course.
- a pack of cards needed to play (these are used instead of dice...yep I had to get used to that too)
- a Pirate crew starter box
- an Imperial crew starter box
Now there's two things I don't wanna think about: for starters the amount of money this present must have cost... as I said I'm not gonna think about it (whoops just did, didn't I?) and second the fact that I have carefully steered away from this game for sooo long because it was going to cost me if I got involved. I used to buy a Freebooter miniature at every DUZI and Crisis convention I'd attend since these are just amazing sculpts and I actually have two or three Freebooter's Fate mini's here but entering in the game was just too much temptation... now the die errm card is cast and there's no way out!And oh boy: they've just announced a gang of Amazons...I hate you AM!

A second present I ordered myself: I had got two coupons for the www.bol.com site. This site is a sort of European Amazon.com site and as such I mostly use it to order books and the like, but it also sells LEGO... now there's a new TIE-figther out and so I ordered that and now I can say it's brilliant and far better than the earlier incarnation.

Well then, later today JW (Pijlie) is coming over for a game of Dystopian Wars.

Saint Nicks!

Hoi,

In the Netherlands (and Belgium and Germany) many families celebrate the birthday of Saint Nicolas to give each other presents like you do with Christmas. I forgot to post about the pressies I got earlier on so here goes:

I got two excellent Great War books, The German Army at Ypres and Pillboxes on the Western Front. I got another LEGO SW box featuring the Hoth Wampa cave and 3 Dystopian Wars scenery packs, these latter are great for other wargames too!

Thanks Saint Nick!

May the Brick be with you...

Hoi,

Since a newborn child is a huge drain on hobby time, I do not have any hobby related update to show you today but I have permitted myself an addition for one of my many other addictions: Star Wars Lego. As it happens I have been a SW-fan since first seeing the Original Trilogy way back as a kid. Back then the SW action figures were too pricey for my allowance or for my parents pocketbook so I never got any. When I got my own income the stuff had risen to collectors status and the prices went along accordingly. Therefore the release of the Star Wars Lego series was the absolute fun solution. I simply love Lego (but am not an AFOL as such) and the way they done up the SW minifigures is just about a dream come true. At this moment I have an healthy, or rather unhealthy, collection of OT series sets. Last week, overcome with the impressions  of being a father, I ordered a Scouttrooper key-chain, the new Characters Guide and an Advent Calendar. I am now trying to keep the latter closed till the first of December, will I manage this or will I succumb earlier?

Anyway Cheers Sander

MOC

Hoi Peoples!

Since I am still painting away on my commissions There's relatively little new to tell regarding figures, so I thought I'd show you yet another one of my passions: LEGO.
Ever since I was a boy I liked LEGO a lot, the possibilities of building are great, of course after a certain age you stop playing with the stuff. If you go on "playing" with LEGO it becomes designing or model making and you become an AFOL (Adult Fan Of LEGO) rather then a kid playing with bricks. When small I used to really want to own and play with those Star Wars action figures but they were already pretty expensive then and I didn't get any.  In later life LEGO came out with the LEGO Star Wars range and I fell for it immediately, well the OT range at any rate. So I dived into the world of AFOLism and have been steadily building a collection of OT sets.

My brother is a big fan of GIJOE action fans and since we used to play with those a lot when kids I got a hit of that too. Now when I stumbled along the possibility to make your own custom minifigures of GIJOE I was hooked and decided to make my own.

Here are my first few MOC's :

The top pictures shows my version of Lowlight and the Baroness, the second shows Flint, Bazooka and Scarlett. All their heads need new, custom faces but I made a mistake of printing the decals on white backed decal paper and have now to wait for clear paper in order not to get a white spot behind the facial features.

The decals I got from: http://www.minifigcustomizationnetwork.com/store

The weapons are from www.brickarms.com

Some of the helmets and other stuff is from www.brickforge.com

It is amazing what kinda stuff is available. I am waiting for really red hair for Scarlet and a beret for Flint. Watch this space for more customs in the future!
