Austrian Artillery

Hoi,

As I said earlier; my 7YW Austrian army is coming along grand! As I have two 3 gun batteries of arty, of which half is ready and the other half primed and awaiting a pj, I needed some limbers. My bits box delivered me two limber-teams, of sorts... I found one complete limber and team from the Revell 7YW Austrian arty set and one half team, I cannibalised two of it's horses for a different project ages ago. Now I based these on ad-hoc bases and here's the end result!

two horse galloper gun team:

I left the guns separate on both the firing and limber bases so here's the limbers with the gun added

I hope you like them just as much as I did!

Vorwärts!

Hoi,

My 7YW Austrian army is coming along nicely. A while back I've based all models for the Austrians I had lying about and am now by and by basing, coating and painting them. The figures pictured below are a bit of a benchmark for me. They are actually pewter Fine Scale Factory Prussian Cuirassiers which must have been lying here for about 10 years... Finally I have come round to painting them as a generic Austrian Cuirassier regiment. I know these are not my best ever, I have cut corners where possible and as such am not overly proud of them but each time you finish a project that has been bugging you for such a long time you just can't help feeling good about yourself ;-)

So here they are

Terrain

Hoi,

Between serious projects I've been doing some small terrain features. The latest two I'll show you here. First up is an Italeri fence put up on a Renedra base. The fence has been made separate for diversity but also for storage.

Second is a set of jungle plants of which I am going to create a great deal for Pirate games (Freebooters fate and Legends of the High Seas)  but also for Colonial games.

Bring out your dead!

Hoi,

OK well not directly dead as such but close. I made this casualty marker using an Airfix Frenchie and a lasercut casualty counter bought at the Crisis 2011.

Tarleton's Light Dragoons

Hoi,

As requested mr Meltzer in the HäT.com forum I have posted pictures of my Tarleton's Dragoon conversions here.

The base for these figures is Italeri's AWI Light Dragoons. Mind you, you have to use the knife on these: all the horses have tassels on their shabraques these should only be present on the officer's horse. Then all troopers wear gorgets (what was Italeri thinking when they made these?) so you either only paint them for the officers or you remove them totally.

The heads are all from the ESCI RHA set which are useless figures anyway due to the uniform inaccuracies.

Ducosim CBT battle

Hoi,

Last Saturday I went to the Ducosim games convention in Amersfoort and played a small Classic Battletech game with Michiel and Marnix. Marnix and myself represented a Clan invading force who had to destroy and capture several IS buildings. I went over there with a combined star of mechs and elementals not fully realising I would be using just 1/3rd of my force. That had been stated in the mission scenario but I did not fully comprehend what it meant for the game.

I ended up using just my Summoner in support of Marnix's Locust IIc and another second-line mech whose name I forgot. We decided that we would try to divide Michiels force of 5 mechs by sending all 3 of our mechs on a different route and this worked fine until Michiel realised what was happening and in true Innersphere surrat style focussed all his fire on my Summoner who held on for about 4 turns under humongous incoming ordnance before succumbing and the pilot ejecting.

Some pictures:

A brave last stand... where's the cavalry when you need them? Oh forgot: always late!

Well we had a blast (pun intended) and since this was the start of a mini-campaign of sorts, you can expect to see more here.
