Hoi,
Lately I have seen some other gamers give their old (often Childhood) soldiers a new life in the hobby by re-basing and -painting them. I too have quite a lot of the figures I started out with when I was 15 years old. Two of the most coveted sets of 1:72 figures are my Revell British Life Guards and French Chasseurs a Cheval de la Garde.
In the years since, I have gathered far more of these sets, but have the originals still. Some time ago I used most of the Life Guards to portray a unit of Horse Guards, already shown on this blog, now the time is up for the Chasseurs to be renovated. I also have some Italeri French Dragoons left over from earlier days (and quite a heap of new ones at that) and some of these I will use to recreate the Empress Dragoons of the Guard.
Here are some pictures to show the state they are in before the make-over.

I like this lots.
Hoi Sander,
the last three days I worked in my hobbyroom, cutting new figures from the sprues, added 2nd-Hand buyings to the far too big stock. I had a set of Revell Lifeguards in my hands and thought what great figures they are. I wanted to paint several of them too to increase my household brigade. Two men, one thought:-)
cheers
Uwe
@Uwe: even more than you think because I also painted up some Lifeguards recently. A post on them will follow here soon...
It's neat that you still have these figures and that they are still in such good shape. Also it will be nice to see how they look after you've painted them again. The leap in skill will be noticeable.
They look great!
