For Sale!

Hoi,

Well I too have finally succumbed to the need to sell off miniatures and stuff much loved but superfluous...  In the column on the right of the blog page you will find a bar saying For Sale! It will show the stuff I'd like to sell or trade. At the moment I've found two Flames of War source books: Desert Rat and Desert Fox I got ages ago and which I do not have a use for. At the time I was thinking of building 20mm British and German forces for the War in Africa but since I discarded all WW2 gaming quite quickly afterwards these are now on the to-go list. I'd ideally get €10,- each excluding P&P or something nice to trade them for. The books are in mint condition not being used other then leafing through once or twice.

Army Showcase Part VI: The Imperial Fleet

Being a staunch Star Wars (Old Trilogy) fan, I just had to get me a fleet of these brilliant Studio Bergstrom miniatures. Since they have different names from the originals it took me some time to find out what types of ship they are but here's a helpful site for finding out, wookieepedia is a great site filled with information on the SW universe. Well the photo's then:

There are still some fighters and Imperial shuttles waiting to be based and coated but I do not have bases for them at this time. Also I am now very anxious to also start a Rebel Alliance fleet... I hate it when you are sucked into a new game... curse Mark and his Space Dreadnaught 3000!

Army Showcase Part V: 7YW Austrians

Hoi,

Today's showcase brings you my Austrian Army for the 7 Year's War. The miniatures are almost all Revell Plastics and have turned out pretty cool. It's a bit like with the Napoleonic French: I started collecting Nappies to gather Wellington's Redcoats but that would mean owning some Frenchies to fight them, since I always leave best till last I started with the French which at first I really disliked. While I started out with the idea of only doing some Line Cavalry and infantry for the French I discovered I actually liked the load of colourful uniforms and their great diversity so now I have practically all mainstream units from Guard to line infantry lying in waiting for a paintjob.... thus it went with the Austrians: I bought the sets to create a 7YW British Army but this would mean converting all the grenadiers into chaps with mitres instead of bearskins. When HäT showed their upcoming MAC Prussians I realised they could be used far easier to gain British Redcoats so decided to paint the Austrians as they were intended to fight my Brits. And so I ended up with a decent Austrian force.

More stuff is in the works, as we speak I actually have finished but not yet photographed the Baden -Baden regiment of the Swabian Detachement for the Reichsarmée (a sort of auxiliary corps for the Austrians made up of troops from several Holy German Empire States) and have based/ coated 3 more infantry regiments, an artillery battery and a unit of dragoons.Photo's of those will follow when ready.

In a Galaxy far far away...

As I mentioned a while ago I am working on a "secret project". Now many of you said they would like to know what this project would be but if you were hoping for historics you're sadly disappointed... Mark and I have played a few games of Space Dreadnought 3000, this is a strategic level game rather then the tactical games we usually play. Now while Mark got a decent fleet and the rules on the last Crisis in Antwerp, I used a fleet cobbled together from Battletech stuff I have lying around. First I was content using this hotch-potch force since we were not going to play this game much anyway, but... well Mark has a professional laser cutter and did some brilliant terrain-tiles and ye Gods its a nice and fast game so bugger all else and get me a fleet. Now to be honest I disliked the fleets offered by the makers of the game Kallistra, and so went in for a few figures from Studio Bergstrom. It will be no surprise that I went for mini's from the Scythe Empire and ordered some testers in. I got the two really BIG Star-destroyers and two smaller ones together with some fighters. Now this is too small a force to game with successfully so yesterday I ordered a second batch of the beauty's.

What also was needed are some spacestations and civilian craft, I got these mostly from Spartan Games's Firestorm Armada range.

As we speak I have also finished the two large Star Destroyers, but the weather is horrible so I can't make any decent pictures. Also the second order for my fleet from Bergstrom has arrived and when I have the entire fleet painted up they'll feature in an army-showcase all of their own ;-)

IMPACT 2012, part 2

As promised here's part 2 of my Impact showreport. Why two showreports, while I usually do just one on any show I attend? Well this one rather had more involvement on my part then others do. First off is the fact I participated in the demo game for Black Powder organised bij Jan-Willem, second I participated in a painting contest for the first time in my life and last but not least this is the only convention of this kind in the Netherlands I know of and I want to see it succeed and grow over the following years.

Let's start with some more pictures from our Black Powder demogame:

The painting contest:

This dragon was painted by a guy who eventually took home two prizes, one for best fantasy monster and one for the best battlescene. You guessed it: I forgot his name too...shame on me!

In the historical single figure category only two models were entered, mine and this Octavia by Josse. Upon seeing it I really thought I'd had it because come on, who doesn't like this mini?

In the end, as told in the first part of this show report, it was decided I won due to the level of detail on my base and the fact I was able to give a 20mm figure a facial expression.More close ups of my figure will follow soon in a separate blog-post.

Talking about the prizes, Scibor miniatures, who could sadly not be present, had offered some excellent mini's and conversion packs. Each winner was allowed to choose a mini from the offered sets, I chose this Celtic sf warrior.
