Hoi,
Just a quick post. As a reaction to my Flashman topic Mister Rosbif asked where these figures can be obtained. They were originally done by Chiltern Miniatures but they do not exist any more. The Flashman range has been sold to SHQ miniatures and you can find them through this link
Now I am not entirely pleased with the mini's. I have finished the Native American girl that comes together with the Flashman I posted earlier and they both seem to be in a slightly different scale. Also the level of detail on the girl is far less crisp and most important she does not resemble the book cover at all. I will comment on this further when I am able to post pictures of the completed pair.
Hope this satisfies the people wanting to get their own Flashy miniatures (pun intended).

Sir Harry!
Hoi,
Having read all the Flashman novels I was totally elated to get my hands on some sets of Flashman figures. These come in pairs and are inspired by the book covers of the series. Below is the Flashman figure from Flashman and the Redskins.The native American girl completing the duo hasn't been done up yet, but will be posted when ready.

Barsoom Part I
Hoi,
It's been a while since the last update but here it is. Through J.W. (blog) I have been able to buy a heap figures of the Bronze Age Miniatures Barsoom series. J.W. has kindly sent the dynamic trio of Tars Tarkars, Dejah and John ahead of the rest and I have painted them up. First off: they are much nicer in real life but photography has messed up the details as well as the colouring.
Let's start with the big one. Tars Tarkas is a great mini, the weapons come as separate parts and make for nice fits. The only problem I had with the mini is that he was not wearing the Jeddak's white fur cloak so I sculpted it on with GS.
The base is the base form the Hitech Mini's figure I recently won in a prize draw. It just fitted the Mars theme perfectly.
Next are the two star crossed lovers Dejah Toris and John Carter. Let's not mess around with this: I hate the John miniature. The pose is okay but the facial expression and his outfit are just about well enough for a generic Barsoomian warrior. Dejah is fine.

Huzzah! I actually won something!
Hoi,
Oh well I came in second to be exact. The guys of Hitechminiatures had a contest on their Facebook page. It more or less consisted of the public sending in addresses of brick and mortar figure shops so they could contact them to sell their produce. So I send in two addresses, more on a whim then for real and lo and behold: I received a mail I had won the second place and was allowed to pick one of their miniatures at will. Never having actually bought one of their mini's but having drooled over them for some time I jumped at it and asked for a character to enhance my Dark Angel army: 28mm Archdiacre Sariel Standar Bearer.
So a great big thanks to the people at Hitechmini's and if I get it painted up any time soon I'll post the pictures of course!

Napoleonic Cavalry!
Hoi,
Lately I've been up to my neck in horses. Erm...on second thought, that doesn't sound as good as I meant it to sound. What I mean is that I've been painting Napoleonic mounted units recently. Two of those I will showcase here.
Th first is the Württemberg Chasseurs a Cheval or Jäger zu Pferde. The figures are from HäT i.e. their 8175 set Württemberg Cavalry I chose to paint them in the colours of the Köning regiment, uniformplates can be found here.
The pink turned out a bit darker but I am really pretty happy with them.
The second regiment are the later version of the French Carabinier regiment. These blue instead of white coats were on my wish-list for some time and so I finally came round to painting them. The miniatures are Italeri's set of course and painting instructions used were:
The blue coats could have used a last highlight but I tried this on one mini and didn't like the end result so decided not to do it.
Hope you like them as much as I do!

Vorwärts
Hoi,
During the 7YW battle at the IMPACT convention a newly painted regiment received its baptism of fire.
As I had two more Austrian regiments primed and ready for painting, I had to decide which colourscheme to use. As always my first point of call is the fabulous Kronoskaf site.
As it turned out pretty much every line regiment had either red or blue turn-backs, since I wanted as much diversity as possible, I ended up painting this regiment in the colours of the Platz regiment i.e. orange.
The painting was a bit of a challenge since I got a bit harsher tone of orange than actually needed, but I kind of like the end result. During the battle the regiment didn't shine out but held the centre with some other regular regiments so in all a decent effort.
Now just one other regiment awaits painting and finishing them would mean the army would be done. That would be an absolute first for me. But...and there's always a big but, pun intended, after the game I decided to do some more cuirassiers so there we go!

The Governors Daughter
Hoi,
As you might remember I only have a few 28mm projects the rest is all in 20mm or rather 1:72 scale. One the aforementioned 28mm projects are my pirates. As part of the pirate project I bought a Black Scorpion model called the Governor's Daughter. At first I was going to use it as an objective for some scenario's, but she also reminded me a lot of a dear friend. I asked her what her favourite colours were, light blue, and decided to paint the miniature for her. So here it is, hope you like it.
