Period Music

Hoi There everybody!

Today's update features not some picture of mini's but a music tip. I am always looking for good period music to play while painting Napoleonics and more importantly to use in class to let youngsters here that they used to make pretty damn nice music way back in Boney's Days as well ;-) Some while ago I stumbled along this site:

I ordered their cd, and it took almost no time to cross the Big Pond from Canada to the Netherlands. I have been playing it non stop since yesterday. What's on it? A lot of familiar folk songs played with period instruments like dulcimers and stuff but also some songs in which vocals are used like the Spanish Ladies and Over the Hills and Far Away (Queen Anne's version not King George's), in versions you have not heard before!

My favourite (but less useful in class) must be The Cuckoo's Nest. For lyrics see:

Anyway it's worth the money to order if you like old English and Irish folk songs sang with some humour.

Cheers Sander
