'ere come the Peelers!

Hoi,

Just a really small post to prove I am still at it. Together with the Chinese figures from last post, I painted up some London policemen on bicycles, also from Foundry.

There's two more civilian bicycle riding figures in the cue, but other stuff has taken precedence at the moment. More on this later!

The End is nigh...

Hoi,

With the final day(s) of the Challenge in sight and me still a few points short of my target I am in a painting frenzy, so no time for a long post here on the blog. There are however, two new posts up at the Challenge site.

Back to the farm!

Hoi There,

As an encore to the Dark Age buildings from some posts ago here are some villagers to go along with those. I am not to sure what make they are. I know I have bought quite some Gripping Beast miniatures and some other brands as well but am not sure which ones and what figures are from what brand. Frankly: I do not really care.

Anyway, let's get on with the pictures right?

Oh and some little pigsy wigsy's got finished as well, I really like the look of these proto pigs, the sheep awaiting me are a bit more daunting though since they too are of a Dark Age breed I am unfamiliar with.

That's all for today folks!

Intermezzo!

Hoi,

Today's post brings you a small update at what's going on in miniature-land here at the moment. The race for the best Femme Fatale is still going on and you can still vote HERE.

Below are some pictures of miniatures I have entered in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge and I am pleased to say I am in the top 20 of say 60 odd contestants; this I could never have imagined.

Also I upped my target from 500 points, a benchmark which I have already passed, to 1000 points. Some very enticing miniatures are still awaiting me on the painting desk and I am seriously chafing at the bit to get going; if only time permitted.

I have something special planned for the "Myth" Bonus round of the Challenge which is coming up soon.  You just wait and see!

So without further ado here's some eye candy.

Here's my Momma Cebada, which I entered as my Femme Fatale

Here's a collection of 28mm Victoriana I've entered.

In with the new..

Hoi,

If you've read my Crisis report, you'll have noticed that my newest obsession is the Victorian Era. Using several different rule-sets, I will try to reproduce scenes from both the TV series Ripperstreet and the Space Captain Smith books written by Toby Frost.

In order to do this I've invested in several sets of North Star Miniatures and Foundry Figures. Ever since buying them,  I have been looking for decent ways to base them. I wanted suitably civic yet not modern scenic bases and while I could perhaps have them lasered or even make them myself, I have found a very nice range of resin scenic bases from the 36 Chambers. They have brilliant service, are not expensive and very detailed indeed.

Here you can see some of my mini's prepped for the Analogue Painting Challenge

When painted these figures will be presented to you of course so watch this spot!

The Governors Daughter

Hoi,

As you might remember I only have a few 28mm projects the rest is all in 20mm or rather 1:72 scale. One the aforementioned 28mm projects are my pirates. As part of the pirate project I bought a Black Scorpion model called the Governor's Daughter. At first I was going to use it as an objective for some scenario's, but she also reminded me a lot of a dear friend. I asked her what her favourite colours were, light blue, and decided to paint the miniature for her. So here it is, hope you like it.

Vehicle showcase: Carriage

Hoi,

A more civilised item in the Vehicle showcase series is this Fine Scale Industries carriage. At first I was thinking of using it as Napoleons carriage, but it is of newer build and thus I decided to use it as Victorian / WW1 era civilian vehicle. The base is just a piece of plastic card covered in wall paper, I like to think it kinda works.

Civilians

Hoi,

For some time I've had a lot of 20mm white metal civilian figures lying around. Some of these are from CPmodels others are from Elhiem. The civilians are mostly WW2 civies but mainly I am going to use them for my Great War games as scenery or scenario objectives. Their first outing however will be a participation game of All Things Zombie this Friday at the school where Mark and I work. There's a Christmas celebration of sorts in which teachers give "workshops" featuring their, non-school related hobbies" and so we decided to host two tables of ATZ games. The rules are easy to learn and will make for great fun!

Here are the pictures:

Male refugees:

Women and children:

Henchmen (these are really Gestapo officers but I will use them as henchmen for...)

The Doctor :

An as of yet still un-named hero...

Hope you like them!

More Metals

Hoi,

In one of the prior posts on this blog I've shown some white metal figures I have recently painted. Today another batch of them will be shown to the public.

First is the the last remaining French lady from the set of 3 ladies shown before. I took a long time coming up with this particular colour scheme and like it pretty well. This is also my first try-out of a more olive-coloured skin-tone and I think I can still improve on that.

Next up are 3 ADC's delivered without horses, these are the test-samples done for the supplier. From left to right, French ADC, French Ordinance officer and finally a Brunswick ADC

Well enjoy,

20mm Metals!

Hello there,

As a diversion from all the usual 1:72 plastics I'll show you some pictures of some 20mm white metal figures I've painted recently.

For starters here are some Napoleonic British Naval Officers from Newline Design, This set, with the number * NAV11, offers some senior officers a midshipman and a more general appearance guy. They are good value for money and paint up really well. I will use them for our games of Legends of the High Seas.

Next up are some civilian figures. I believe the manufacturer is Art Miniaturen, but am not sure. It was a German firm anyway. I obtained mine from www.miniatuurwereld.com, a Dutch retailer and an old friend, a long time ago but only now found some time to paint them. While they are intended as Napoleonic German States civilians I tried to paint them more like Peninsular civilians. for reference I used these colour schemes:

The last batch of figures are Brunswick infantry from Schilling Zinnfiguren, from...Brunswick. http://www.zinnfiguren-schilling.de/ This is a relatively new line of figures and I first glanced at these figures at the DUZI convention. While they are a bit pricey you do get poses you will not be able to get in plastic. I must admit that the samplepack I painted did have some very strange proportions, the most notable is the waving arm of the NCO which is too long by far. But the paint up nice and complement HäT's line of figures perfectly. For uniform reference I used this well-known site:  http://centjours.mont-saint-jean.com/

Last but not least is not a figure picture but some scenery. I found some time to put together and paint Italeri's stone bridge. While I really am not impressed with the latest figure kits produced by this firm their scenery range in 1:72 is unchallenged! Brilliant stuff.
