Assemble the Fleet!

Hoi,

The X-wing saga continues. Due to some trick of faith Mark and I were able to obtain a large collection of Star Wars goodies.
Our haul included:
- two startersets
- 2x Slave 1
- 1 x Millennium Falcon
- 1x TIE advanced
- 1x TIE interceptor
- 1x X-wing
- 1x Ywing
- 1x A wing.

This lot was complemented by the arrival of a Kenner Imperial Star Destroyer yesterday. The fleets now look something like this:

Imperial "fleet"

Mark will be playing the Alliance and I myself will be collecting the Empire. I specially love the Interceptor (or squint). One of the Firesprays will remain in the original Slave 1 colour-scheme, the other one I will repaint when I find an appropriate scheme.

Army showcase: First Aragon Borderers

Hoi,

Some time ago I photographed most of my Battletech collection. Today's update brings you my Federated Commonwealth regiment of the First Aragon Borderers. In the Sourcebook Federated Suns they are described as a regular Battlemech regiment with an added battalion of armoured fighting vehicles rather then a full Regimental Combat Team, therefore I have added a fair amount of tanks and stuff.
The colour scheme came about as a combination of the Aragon's own blue scheme combined with the blue-line scheme from the computer game Mechwarrior 4 vengeance. I like it a LOT! This probably is my nicest looking CBT army to date, at least in my humble opinion. I like playing my Jade Falcons better still...

The whole army arrayed on parade:

Heavy and Assault lances plus the armoured cars, VTOL and hover-crafts:

Light or recon lance:

The armoured support:

As you can see the company is several 'Mechs short and these will be added when available. There are some very nice Unseen chassis in this lot and I am really happy with how they turned out!

Army showcase: 5th Sword of Light

Hoi,

In the continuing series of Army Showcases the next instalment for Classic Battletech my regiment from the Draconis Combine the 5th Sword of Light.

This regiment came about mainly because I had bought the new starter box for Battletech which included some crude plastic battlemechs. Among them was a Dragon; a classic Draconis Combine battlemech. So I knew I had to start a Draco regiment. The choosing of a colour-scheme was quite difficult since I had a red scheme in mind when thinking of the DC but it appeared that most DC regiments have white schemes for their troops... So upon doing some research I settled for the 5th Sword of Light. They were pretty mauled after the 4th Succession War and the ensuing Clan invasion, and so they were the right unit for me to start building it up again.

At present it is made up of a near full company of mechs, just missing one for the Assault Lance, but still lacking in armoured support. The source book for the DC mentions them without such auxiliaries, but I will add them anyway. The first of these is the swiftwind scout car added in this picture.

Light and medium Lances:

Heavy and Assault Lances:

The latest additions to this regiment are this Warhammer (left), Hunchback (right) and the scout car (front) which I like pretty much. They are all splendid metal models. The Warhammer is an Unseen model, the Hunchback is from the new clam shell package "Sword and Dragon" and the Swiftwind is just an old hand lying in my bits box.

That's all for today folks!

Army Showcase: The Northwind Highlanders

Hoi,

Emblem of the Northwind HighlandersFor 2013 I would like to do more Army Showcases. Since I have recently photographed most of my, still unfinished, Classic Battletech armies I thought I'd put them up.

So here's my Northwind Highlanders Unit. I have not specified which particular regiment, let alone what company, they are supposed to represent. I just needed a general mercenary unit to use in scenario's in which my regular units cannot take part. Since everyone else plays either the Wolfs Dragoons or Kell Hounds I thought I'd go with these. Also promoted due to the very nice novels depicting this elite merc unit.

Army Overview:

As you can see I have 3 lances of 4 mechs each, that makes up a full company. They are supported by some armour, artillery and a stand of battle armoured infantry.

Heavy Lance:

Left to right: Chimera, Black Hawk Ku, Battlemaster and Black Watch.

Assault lance:

Left to right: Mauler, Highlander IIC, Highlander and Archer IIC

Light/ medium lance:

Left to right: Griffin IIc, Bushwacker, Raven and Raptor

This army is pretty much finished except for some more stands of infantry, for which I lack the hex bases at present.

Army Showcase Part VI: ECW Royalists

Hoi,

Today brings you both an Army Showcase as well as a For Sale item since the army showcased here is up for grabs.

As happens so often to us gamers I bought Warhammer Historicals ECW ages ago and started building an 1:72 ECW army from Revell and ACTA figures. I've painted up two blue regiments with both Pike and Shotte and a red one with the Pikes ready and heaps of shotte still undone. I have also finished two guns with crew as well as some skirmishers. Riders are in the works as well with two boxes worth of troops part based part unpainted. I also have some boxes of unpainted stuff lying around as you can see from the pictures.

The whole bunch together:

Some close ups:

Ideally I'd like to get €120,- for the lot or something good for trade, excluding P&P, contact me here via a comment or via straet@gmail.com. First come is first to buy!

At this moment in time the army has been sold already, sorry people!

Army Showcase Part VI: The Imperial Fleet

Hoi,

Being a staunch Star Wars (Old Trilogy) fan, I just had to get me a fleet of these brilliant Studio Bergstrom miniatures. Since they have different names from the originals it took me some time to find out what types of ship they are but here's a helpful site for finding out, wookieepedia is a great site filled with information on the SW universe. Well the photo's then:

The fleet:

The capital ship, an Allegiance Class Super Star Destroyer:

Imperial Class Star Destroyer:

Victory Class Star Destroyers:

Imperial II Class Frigates:

Interdictor Class Star Destroyers:
Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruiser:
TIE Fighters:

There are still some fighters and Imperial shuttles waiting to be based and coated but I do not have bases for them at this time. Also I am now very anxious to also start a Rebel Alliance fleet... I hate it when you are sucked into a new game... curse Mark and his Space Dreadnaught 3000!

Army Showcase Part V: 7YW Austrians

Hoi,

Today's showcase brings you my Austrian Army for the 7 Year's War. The miniatures are almost all Revell Plastics and have turned out pretty cool. It's a bit like with the Napoleonic French: I started collecting Nappies to gather Wellington's Redcoats but that would mean owning some Frenchies to fight them, since I always leave best till last I started with the French which at first I really disliked. While I started out with the idea of only doing some Line Cavalry and infantry for the French I discovered I actually liked the load of colourful uniforms and their great diversity so now I have practically all mainstream units from Guard to line infantry lying in waiting for a paintjob.... thus it went with the Austrians: I bought the sets to create a 7YW British Army but this would mean converting all the grenadiers into chaps with mitres instead of bearskins. When HäT showed their upcoming MAC Prussians I realised they could be used far easier to gain British Redcoats so decided to paint the Austrians as they were intended to fight my Brits. And so I ended up with a decent Austrian force.

Here then are the pictures. First up is an overview of the troops ready at the moment of taking pictures:

A closer view of the infantry:

 The cavalry:
And finally the artillery

More stuff is in the works, as we speak I actually have finished but not yet photographed the Baden -Baden regiment of the Swabian Detachement for the Reichsarmée (a sort of auxiliary corps for the Austrians made up of troops from several Holy German Empire States) and have based/ coated 3 more infantry regiments, an artillery battery and a unit of dragoons.Photo's of those will follow when ready.

Hope you like them,

Cheers Sander

Army Showcase Part III: Assyrian Army

Hoi,

For this Army Showcase I decided to take my oldest finished historical wargames army. Oldest in both chronological-  as in actual sense. I put this together for some games of WAB but haven't used it in about 8 years...

High time they should come out of the showcase right?

The army:

A block of regular infantry and allied infantry, I love the look of those massive shields

Tribal Skirmishers

Regular missile, I actually have a few more of these but they didn't fit the picture right.

Line Cavalry

Guard Cavalry, I am also doing a Guard Infantry regiment but it has been sidelined for other projects for quite some time now...

The general in his Chariot, I also have a King and chariot waiting behind the screens but he's got sidelined as well.

All HäT figures of course.

Cheers Sander
