Hoi,
A more civilised item in the Vehicle showcase series is this Fine Scale Industries carriage. At first I was thinking of using it as Napoleons carriage, but it is of newer build and thus I decided to use it as Victorian / WW1 era civilian vehicle. The base is just a piece of plastic card covered in wall paper, I like to think it kinda works.

Heia Safari!
Hoi,
This update takes us to Darkest Africa where a small German force led by the legendary Von Lettow-Vorbeck and aided by native auxiliaries, is fighting the French, British and Belgians. These figures are part of a series of HäT sets that depict both the German Schutztruppen, Askari's and native Ruga Ruga's. Here I present the European Schutztruppe include Von Letto-Vorbeck.
The group-photo:
I have found reference for all my colour choices i.e. the different colours of headgear so I find them a very nice and colourful bunch.
The officers:
The HMG:
The foot troopers:
NCO's:
I intend to use them not only to play WW1 skirmish scenario's but also some Pulp scenario's if and when I get the chance.
Cheers Sander

Vehicle showcase: Mark IV Female
Hoi,
For my WW1 games I posses a small wagon-park and I thought I'd put them up in a new "showcase" series, hence this "Vehicle showcase" article.
Let's start with that most famous of WW1 silhouettes: the British Mark IV. I have several EMHAR plastic kits build by Hans Slaager and painted by yours truly.
My Mark IV, I have done up in a regular late-war green scheme with the British red-white recognition markings. The tank is fictional and as such has the number C23 (C company 23rd vehicle) The legend reads Iron Duke. There was a real tank called Iron Duke, but this is not suppose to portray that particular vehicle. Well I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The Governor's Court
Hoi,
From time to time, you want something different. Way back when I just started out painting historical figures for real, and I did not have a credit card or Paypall account, I asked one of my American friends to obtain some Old Glory miniatures for me. He duly did and ever since then 3 nice Pirate sets have been awaiting painting. Last week was a holiday over here so I had time to paint one of them, the Governor's Court, up and boy what a lot of work it was. I am not used to 28mm and all these were of that scale. That said another problem was: what to use as colour-schemes?
Well I wanted this to depict the bad guy, it was far too easy to depict the stereotype British Governor and friends. So I went for a more colourful French, or perhaps Spanish Governor.
So let me introduce them all to you.
First up the Governor with his personal footman:
Next up another footman
The Governor's haughty wife:
Of course there have to be some Aristocratic toadies:
A devious priest is a must as well:
Some civil servants to falsify the books:
And finally a military man, ships captain or possibly admiral:
And the bunch put together:
There are still two more sets, one of pirates playing cards in a bar and some captured civilians but these will have to wait for painting just a "bit" longer...
Cheers Sander

Gone Camping!
Hoi,
Normally I am not thát fond of sleeping in a tent but these tents by Amera Plastics are superb! I have got all their present 1:72 tents and have just finished the set where you get 5 tents on one strip of plastic. I cut these loose in order to have more different ways to place them on the tabletop. Some additional scenics were added and a dash of paint was slabbed on.
The miniatures are HäT Colonials, the baggage bearers are the new WW1 von Lettow carriers.
Cheers Sander,

Vorwärts Husaren!
Hoi,
Sometimes it's great to have some time AND inspiration to finish a project! Yesterday I found time, energy and inspiration to finally finish the last mounted regiment for my 7YW Austrian army. This regiment would be a hussar regiment. Why? Well very simple, a long time ago I obtained quite a large amount of Revell 7YW Prussian Hussars. These chaps are very nicely done and since I had heaps lying around anyway, I decided to paint them as Austrians. Okay there's more reasons for this decision then I'm actually telling now: I also have decided that, while I will probably end up doing a Prussian army in the end, it will be last in the list first up are a British- and then a Hanoverian army. Lastly these were already painted, badly I must add, by me years ago. Therefore it was about time to give them a decent paintjob and list them amongst the active units instead of waiting in some dusty box in the cupboard.
For the colour-scheme I chose a blue one form the excellent Kronoskaf website, they depict the Szechényi Hussars.Don't ask me how to pronounce this!
Here are the pictures

Now I know I've said these chaps are the last mounted regiment for my Austrian Army yet, as often is: this is not a very hard resolution of mine. I will probably cave in and paint a new one if and when opportunity presents itself but for now I only have two more Austrian foot regiments to paint before my planned units are done...
Cheers Sander
