Han shot first!

Hoi,

Yes you've got that right: another episode in our ongoing West End Games Star Wars saga. Today I bring you the most famous sci-fi-shoot-out victim of all times: poor old Greedo.

The figure is quite nice but suffers from the same symptoms almost all these West End Games mini's do: bad  detailing. Correct that what I mean to say is that quite a lot of detail is added to the miniatures but since there's loads of flash and casting-seams coupled with the lack of crispness of casting, the mini's are a pain to get right sometimes.

On the subject of getting it right: the colours used for Greedo's outfit are rather freely interpreted, good and decent colour pictures of this famous character are hard to come by so I had to make a sort of a judgement call; I hope you'll agree.

As far as the controversy, hinted at in the title of today's post, is concerned: Han did shoot first and it makes him a proper rogue and an even more proper scoundrel.

Battletroops, the story continues

Hoi,

A platoon of based and coated Battletroops Draconis Combine infantry, has stood on my desk for as long as I own them. By and by I apint a couple of them up so I can add them to the painted list. So here presented are two pairs of RPG gunners. I gather they will be aiming their Inferno missiles at any nearby mechs. Now stil about 10 more to go...

While preparing some more substantial contributions I thought I'd share this picture with you. I try to attend each year's Crisis Convention in Antwerp, organised by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp. Upon buying a ticked you get a goodiebag which usually contains a specially made convention figure.
These figures most often depict a character from Belgian history. Since I hav collected quite a few I thought I'd show them to you all. Here they are.

From left to right they are: a tank-crewman from the Spanish Civil War, A Bokkenrijder (Goat Rider), Dulle Griet (Mad meg), Mercator, some Explorer guy, a Belgian officer in French service.

More Star Wars miniatures

Hoi,

More unpainted Star Wars miniatures have moved on into the "painted" cabinet. Today's post brings you some Bounty hunters and assorted Aliens.

Some of my favourite models in the West End Games series are Bosk and Dengar and here they are:

Less favourite are these droids IG 88 and 4-LOM.

Bib Fortuna and Weequay are no bountyhunters of course, but people on Jabba's staff.

Most characters in the West End series I recognise from some scene or other of the Original Trilogy, one of them I really had a hard time placing: Hammerhead (not known under this name, but I forgot how he's actually called).

Bavarian Command Vignette

Hoi,

Time for some Napoleonics again. At the last DUZI convention I visited, must be at least 5 years ago, I bought me some Hecker and Goros Bavarian staff figures. So now I finally managed to put them together on a vignette base, added some horses and a fence and here is the result.

Hope you like it. The only problem is: I actually do not own that much Bavarian mini's for them to command. Oh well... ;-)

The Great War Centennial Part II

Hoi,

This second in my TGW Centennial Series shows the newest HäT WW1 infantry testshots.

Both sets are made up of 8 poses each with an officer discharging his revolver in a convincing pose. Subjects are the BEF and British troops in tropic weather dress. I specially like the latter with their giant (Wholsey) sun helmets and shorts.

These sets cry out to me to be used for conversions with the existing sets of Middle Eastern theatre figures.The reason I didn't indulge in this, is that I want testshots shown like you get them out of the box, apart from the bases which I added obviously. These are Renedra Plastics BTW, they offer a great service and speedy delivery.

The Great War Centennial Part I

Some time ago I obtained the new HäT  WW1 German wagon set and here I present the vignette I created with it. The field kitchen or Goulash Kanone is from the now OOP Fine Scale Factory.
Figures are mainly HäT with some Revell and EMHAR figs added to complement them.
