More White...

As is now all but usual, life interfered with my hobby the last few weeks. Floods, evacuations and road accidents all did not encourage me doing any painting or other hobby activities. That said; it's summer holiday right now and I have been able to do some painting as well as play a game of Heroquest with the family.

Today I'd like to show you just one figure: A Tome Keepers Space Marine.

Being a friend of a FLGS owner and having two cute kids, means that sometimes one of those "free-give-sway" Space Marine models finds it's way over tot me. As the White Dwarf included a transfer sheet for the Tome Keepers (a Chapter of Space Marines created by the WD team just for fun) I decided to paint this figure up as one, it might also be that these chaps (The Tome Keepers) are a bit of amateur historians and this of course endears them to me. 

Let me be honest here, I am not all sure I like Games Workshop's present day rules, nor it's business model but some of the figures are really cool. I am still busily beavering away on the Stalingrad big box for said FLGS Owner and will show some pictures of stuff for that project here soon to.

Cr*pbucket!

Quite a lot of you Blogger guys have been ranting about the downright bad service Photobucket has been supplying recently. I didn't notice I had surpassed my set amount of pictures for my Free account and as such a lot of the pictures in my older blogposts were being hidden by PB untill I upgraded. They didn't notify me about this which I think isn't really civil. This morning I received a notice that my account had been inactive for quite some time, so if I didn't activate it would be closed down.

Well I activated, noticed the "exceeding hosting limits" notification and since I had no desire of upgrading I tried to delete my account. The latter wasn't an option since a free account does not have a delte my account  button. I tried solving this, wasn't able and in the end just deleted all my albums and left it at that.

Now the effect of this will leave quite a lot of the older posts without pictures. I might remedy this in due time (it has no priority for me now since I haven't been actually using PB for some time) and I might just delete the posts or provide new pictures. 

I just thought I should let you all know.

Just about time...a 2020 review!

 Dear Readers,

We're already 3 months and 4 days into the new year and I have yet to submit my review for 2020. Blogging has again been one of the tasks I could not set myself to these last months, more so because I have also been competing in the 11th Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. Entries for said Challenge can be found here:

Challenge Entries

While I managed to paint a healthy 1390 points worth of stuff for the Challenge, the most prestigious part for me was gaining 10.000+ "Challenges lifepoints" meaning that during all the Challenges I have participated in, I have painted in excess of 10.000 points altogether. 

Before I start the listing of miniatures painted in 2020, I'd like to have a short recap in words of the most important projects running through the year. 

First up are the two main commission projects I have been painting: Roel's Star Wars Legion figures which was a total blast because the figures are full of character and detail.

And two Warlord projects for Martijn: both the La Haye Sainte and Stalingrad boxes. The former is done (explaining the 100 painted 28mm Napoleonics) and the latter is still an ongoing project.

On the side I have been painting stuff for myself as well, mainly Heroquest figures and scatter terrain as well as Battletech figures. 

 

Well let's see what I did in numbers this last year!

Amounting to a grand total of 7 vehicles and 558 figures painted. I am very happy with that! The output for 2019 was 261 figures so I doubled that score. This is not due to Covid I think, as a teacher it rather had a negative effect on my free time as I was forced to rapidly master online teaching. I blame it on having to do commissions as well as a lot of figures that I was able to batch paint which goes way faster then the one off figures for Heroquest or Battletech I have also painted. 

There are plans for this year in place but for now I am still very busy with painting the Stalingrad forces for Martijn. Curt has also offered us Challengers to participate in a Vaccination Challenge. Where you get to enter figures painted until you get your first shot. You can see that over HERE.

Operation Barbarossa

As I have mentioned a few times before, I have been beavering away at two big commissions for the FLGS. One's almost finished and concerns the figures from the La Haye Sainte boxedset from Warlord Games. The other is the Stalingrad Collectors edition boxed set from the same company. Today's postshows you some of the test figures I have done for the latter project.

These figures of course represent some of the dour defenders of Stalingrad and I must say I like the options this plastic set gives you a lot.

I hope this suffices as a teaser, since a lot of figures are still in the works

Thief of time...

What happened to time? Covid stole it... for sure! Well dear followers I do hope you're all okay and healthy. Here things are reasonably well, after the lockdown imposed on us all we are now back to a less strict set of rules but infection rate is going up again! While loads of peole in the hobby enjoyed a lot of extra hobby time and got things done, both my wife and I myself had to work from home and being a teacher this meant it cost me more time than others. Aside from that I  am still working on two huge commissions that take most of my hobbytime.

The two main events I would like to talk about here are the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge and it's successor the Quarantaine Challenge. If you fancy a look at what I have painted during both of these you can go see my entries through the links below:

Anyone who did take a look will have seen that I have painted up a lot of Star Wars Legion figures, pretty much all of the Quarantaine Challenge entries were full of them. They are all part of a commission that's now luckily done, it was great fun but it took longer than expected.

At this moment in time, I am painting  two big sets from Warlord Games, the La Haye Sainte battleset and the Stalingrad collectors edition box for the owner of our FLGS. More  information on these will follow soonish.

2019 a Review!

You guessed it, it's that time of the year again: time for a Year Review! Overall 2019 seems to have not been everyone's favourite year with political and climate related issues the world round, but hobby-wise I am not complaining.
Before I go on to tell what figures were finished this year let me point out that I have got two posts up at the 10th Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. Go and have a look!

As for the figure count this year, here we go:

So what's up for 2020? Well a lot is put in the painting cue for the AHPC. Amongst these prepped figures are quite a lot of 1:72 HäT figures and a lot of 40k and Indian Mutiny figures.

 While I have a lot I would like to do next year, I have decided to stick with the motto of painting what I fancy doing, since that is what has kept me going and prevented an after-Challenge 9- depression. So yeah loads planned for the next year. I do find myself lacking in motivation to post it on the blog (a Crisis Convention report is long overdue) but I will try to keep you all posted.
